About

Nutricq ("new trick") was setup to adapt drying technology for processing soybeans. After this was successful, we looked at drying surplus fruit and veg from local retailers, initially using the derived product as a natural mineral/vitamin input in stockfeed. After positive feedback on the performance of the feed, we decided to look more seriously at the fruit and veg......

......with the help of a circular economy grant from the RCOE we worked on preserving the nutrient content from the fruit and veg and after considerable trial work was carried out, one method stood out. This is why we use sorghum - the grain starts off as whole grain which is not very digestible. During the Nutricq process the grain becomes highly gelatinised and highly digestible. MOST importantly we achieve much higher nutrient preservation from the fruit and veg.

Natural Antioxidants

The Nutricq process preserves nutrients in a "velvety" powder packed with natural antioxidants, protein, fibre, minerals and vitamins. Natural antioxidants come in a broad range and many perform better when in the company of other natural compounds. Antioxidants form one of the first lines of defence in the immune system and therefore help defend all organs against disease. This includes the gut. "Superfoods" are so-called because they are known for being very high in antioxidants. We achieve similar levels of natural antioxidants in our Booster product. The advantage we have is that our product contains a much broader range of inputs and therefore a broader range of antioxidants.

Reducing Landfill

Since we started taking surplus retail fruit and veg from local retailers we have diverted hundreds of tons away from landfill. Rotting food in landfill is a major source of methane and we are pleased to play our part in creating a cleaner environment in a more circular economy.
